As funny as it sounds, sometimes I feel more connected to my husband when he is away than when he is home. Constantly emailing, sending pictures, missing him, and looking forward to his phone calls gives me a feeling of closeness that we often take for granted when he is here. I think these deployments, training seminars, TDYs, and other Army shinanigans have actually taught us to love deeper and in a more meaningful way than before. That isn't to say these deployments and absences aren't hard. They are. I struggle with him being gone almost daily. But in some small way, just knowing that in the end, he's doing what he's doing FOR us is the most comforting thing I have ever felt. This isn't the rest of our life. It's our life right now.
